Mechanic on Wheels — DTC Lookup, Diagnostics & A/C Guide

Mobile Motive technical app

OBD-II lookup with real diagnostic direction.

Search fault codes, filter by system or vehicle brand, open detailed guides, and use a proper test path before quoting parts. This app is built around the same diagnosis-first process used on mobile diagnostic jobs across Adelaide Hills, Mount Barker and Nairne.

Fast professional direction

A scan result should lead into testing: freeze-frame, live data, service data, voltage-drop, scope capture, smoke testing, pressure testing and mechanical confirmation where required.

Advanced diagnostic data used by the app

Use as direction — confirm against OEM specifications

Electrical baselines

  • Battery rested: around 12.6 V when fully charged.
  • Cranking: generally keep above 9.6 V while loaded; temperature and battery rating matter.
  • Starter B+ voltage drop: aim under 0.5 V; ground side usually under 0.3 V during crank.
  • Sensor 5 V reference: confirm clean supply, ground integrity and no shorted shared sensor.

Live-data baselines

  • STFT/LTFT within ±5% is ideal; ±10% needs attention; ±20% usually confirms a real fuel-control problem.
  • MAF at hot idle is often near 0.8–1.2 g/s per litre of engine capacity.
  • MAP at warm idle is commonly 25–40 kPa on a healthy petrol engine.
  • ECT should rise smoothly; cold ECT and IAT should be close after an overnight soak.

Scope / pressure testing

  • Capture cam/crank sync before condemning sensors or chains.
  • Use relative compression current ramps for fast mechanical screening.
  • Smoke-test intake and EVAP faults before replacing MAF/O2 parts.
  • Load-test powers and grounds; high-resistance circuits can pass a no-load voltmeter test.
