Vehicle coverage

Common vehicle issues and technical bulletin direction.

Use this as a fast field reference for vehicles Mobile Motive commonly services across Adelaide Hills, Mount Barker, Nairne and surrounding areas. These notes are diagnostic starting points only — confirm with testing, OEM service information and VIN-specific bulletins before replacing parts.

Holden

Commodore, Colorado, Captiva, Cruze

Alloytec timing correlation, LS misfire, intake leaks, oil pressure warnings, Captiva diesel/EGR/DPF, ABS wheel-speed faults.

Known-fault bulletin tip: Alloytec P0008/P0016/P0018/P0019 direction: check oil condition, cam actuator command, cam/crank correlation and chain stretch data before quoting chains. LS misfire: prove ignition, injector pulse and compression before coils.

Ford

Falcon, Territory, Ranger, Focus

COP misfires, smart-charge faults, ZF/BTR transmission complaints, Ranger boost/DPF/EGR faults, Focus cooling and transmission warnings.

Known-fault bulletin tip: Ranger/BT-50 underboost: pressure-test charge pipes/intercooler, verify actuator command, MAP/MAF plausibility and DPF restriction before turbo replacement. Falcon/Territory no-start: check PATS, ignition switch, BEM/PCM powers and crank signal.

Toyota

Hilux, Prado, LandCruiser, Corolla, Camry, RAV4, HiAce

VVT/oil control, A/F sensor faults, EGR/DPF diesel issues, cooling faults, ABS/C1201 paired engine faults.

Known-fault bulletin tip: C1201 commonly stores with an engine ECU fault; repair the engine/DTC root cause first. VVT faults: check oil grade, OCV filter, actual cam movement and sludge before sensors.

Mazda

Mazda 2, Mazda 3, CX-3, CX-5, BT-50, Mazda 6

MAF/intake leaks, misfires with compression checks, Skyactiv cooling/VVT logic, BT-50 Ranger-related DPF/boost checks.

Known-fault bulletin tip: Cylinder-specific misfire that does not move with coil/plug/injector needs compression, leakdown and valve timing checks. BT-50 diesel underboost follows Ranger-style pressure and actuator testing.

Nissan

Navara, X-Trail, Patrol, Pulsar, Dualis

MAF contamination, boost leaks, EGR soot, cam/crank heat faults, EVAP vent contamination and CAN faults.

Known-fault bulletin tip: YD25 diesel: suction control valve/fuel-rail control concerns need commanded/actual rail pressure under load, not guesswork. Heat-soak cam/crank codes need waveform capture hot.

Mitsubishi

Triton, Pajero, Outlander, Lancer

EGR/intake carbon, turbo actuator/boost solenoid faults, DPF pressure hose faults, CVT warnings and ABS wheel-speed issues.

Known-fault bulletin tip: DPF differential pressure faults: inspect hoses for splits/soot blockage, confirm sensor zero offset KOEO and pressure rise with RPM before replacing DPF.

Hyundai / Kia

i30, Tucson, Santa Fe, Cerato, Sportage, Sorento

GDI carbon, coil/plug misfires, purge valve hard-start after refuel, A/C compressor control and charging/earth faults.

Known-fault bulletin tip: Hard-start after refuelling: command/seal-test purge valve and watch fuel trims. GDI misfire: verify plug gap, coil output, injector balance and carbon/compression.

Isuzu

D-MAX, MU-X

Boost leaks, MAP contamination, DPF differential pressure hoses, EGR soot and charging system load checks.

Known-fault bulletin tip: 4JJ1 boost/DPF complaints: clean-test MAP, pressure-test intake, inspect DPF hoses and compare commanded vs actual boost before turbo parts.

Subaru

Forester, Outback, Impreza, XV

Oil leaks/consumption, O2/catalyst faults, cooling concerns, CVT warnings and misfire/compression verification.

Known-fault bulletin tip: P0420 after oil consumption or misfire requires fixing the cause first; compare front/rear O2 activity and check exhaust leaks before catalytic converter quotes.

Volkswagen

Golf, Passat, Amarok, Tiguan

Battery/gateway faults, DSG/TCM codes, VNT boost control, intake leaks, water-pump/thermostat housing concerns.

Known-fault bulletin tip: Low-voltage and battery registration issues can trigger unrelated modules. DSG/TCM faults need transmission-specific scan data, fluid condition and power/ground checks.

BMW

3 Series, 5 Series, X models

VANOS/VVT faults, electric water pump faults, IBS/battery registration concerns, valvetronic and coolant leak diagnosis.

Known-fault bulletin tip: Electric water pump faults: command pump, verify power/ground/LIN or BSD communication, bleed function and coolant temp behaviour before pump replacement.

Mercedes-Benz

C/E-Class, Sprinter, Vito

NOx/DPF/EGR diagnostics, glow plug faults, CAN/voltage complaints, A/C compressor control and boost leaks.

Known-fault bulletin tip: Sprinter/Vito diesel faults: check AdBlue/NOx status, DPF soot load, exhaust temp sensors and boost leaks before clearing inducement-related codes.

Before quoting a repair

  1. Confirm the symptom and whether the code is active, pending or history.
  2. Check battery voltage, charging ripple, voltage drop and module communication before deep diagnosis.
  3. Use scan data to identify the module that requested the warning light, especially when ABS, TCM or BCM codes are paired with ECU codes.
  4. Perform physical checks: oil level, coolant level, intake leaks, damaged grounds, connector tension, blown fuses and aftermarket accessory wiring.
  5. Check manufacturer bulletins and recalls, then prove the fault using live data, circuit testing, pressure testing or mechanical testing.
